This weeks green theme was going to be a difficult topic. How do you make green the dominant colour and a really interesting image? As you can see the results were amazing. We received images ranging from green foliage, to green water, underwater and even a cool caricature. The key to a great green image is lighting, texture, tones and directing the eye. Sounds familiar doesn't it? The concepts of an aesthetically pleasing image remain the same, no matter what the theme is.
This is weeks Peoples Choice winner by Meli James Collins is a WOW image. It grabs your attention. There are no vertical or horizontal lines – they are all diagonal. The curve of the lime breaks up all the straight lines on the praying mantis. The blurred background also makes it look less like a snapshot taken by a phone. The placement of it’s head looking back at us and angled looking back in to the image is spot on. Love it!
Each week our Facebook group - Better Mobile Photos Community and Instagram account, hosts a weekly photography theme. This encourages us to share mobile phone photos, techniques, tips, favourite apps, editing techniques and be inspired by each others interpretations of the theme. It is a fun, supportive and social community, specifically for Android and iPhone photographers of all levels. Be sure to tag your images the assigned hashtag to be involved and featured in our articles.
The Peoples Choice winners are determined by the number of likes and comments received from the community. Below, you will find the winning entries together with some other amazing contributions.
