Abstract photos can be a bit divisive – as it generally involves capturing objects, colours and patterns that are not instantly recognisable as a real form.
There has never been a more exciting time for photographers and artists who enjoy creating abstract images. Not only can you capture photos on your phone camera - there are so many apps available today to manipulate them into digital creations, including among many - PicsArt, Toolwiz or Prisma.
Previously we had the story telling theme, where we attempted to clearly communicate the story. This time, we went to the other end of the spectrum. Abstract is not about capturing a story. It is about images that makes us think WOW, I like it – but what is it? The common attributes of an abstract are colour, patterns, textures, space, light and/or energy.
This theme was very exciting, pushing many of our community members outside of their comfort zone and trying something new.
Each week, we host a new mobile photography theme in our Facebook group and Instagram; to share, learn and be inspired by images created on mobile devices. It is a fun, supportive and social community, specifically for Android and iPhone photographers of all levels. Be sure to tag your images the assigned hashtag to be involved and featured in our articles.
The Peoples Choice winners are determined by the number of likes and comments received from the community. Below, you will find the winning entries together with some other amazing contributions.
